Taoran Ji

Taoran Ji is a first-year DAC Ph.D. student in the department of computer science. He works at the Spatial Data Management :ab, his advisor is Chang-Tien Lu, associate director of DAC . His research interests include natural language processing, text mining, and machine learning. 

He works for the EMBERS project and does the data analysis on MENA (Middle East and North Africa region) Twitter data sets. His current focus is on text mining using social media with applications to event detection/prediction such as protest prediction and airport threat level assessment.
